Branch 150, Ontario, CA
As USA Security Officer Yvonne Trejo patrolled the medical facility where she was assigned one Sunday evening in June, she heard a woman screaming from outside the building.
Trejo went to the sound of the screaming and saw a young woman holding a guitar being held down on the ground by a young man with no shirt on.
Trejo immediately yelled at the man, “Get off of her!”
“Trejo’s vigilance prevented a possible crime and created a better outcome for the young woman who was attacked and the community.”
The startled young man got up and snatched the guitar from the young woman. As the young woman fled, the young man hopped on his bike and escaped through a hole in the fence behind the medical center, still holding the guitar.
Trejo used her P3 enabled mobile phone to take a picture of the young man and she called the Moreno Valley Police Department. Police were able to find the young woman and ensure that she was OK.
Thanks to the description and the photo Trejo gave to police, they were able to apprehend the suspect. Trejo’s vigilance prevented a possible crime and created a better outcome for the young woman who was attacked and the community.
