Keen Attention to Detail Prevents Catastrophic Car Fire

Not all heroic actions involve grand sweeping gestures. Sometimes it is just recognizing the signs of a potentially deadly occurrence where lives are saved. A seemingly insignificant action can make a huge difference and create a better outcome for our clients and the people we protect.

“While it does not seem like a big deal in the aftermath, this could have been a serious vehicle fire and I don’t even wish to think about other possible events which could have unfolded.”

USA Security Officer Leanne Glover noticed something leaking from one of the vehicles as it raced around the track at a vehicle test facility with passengers inside. Upon a second look, she determined that the car was leaking fuel. Glover made one call to notify track officials, which set off a string of radio and phone calls that put an immediate halt to the test drive.

Drivers and passengers were evacuated from the car and a fire/paramedic crew came to clean up the fuel spill.

Jim Marsella, Senior Director for the facility, noted how vital it was that Glover reported the fuel leak so quickly. He said, “This action alone may have saved the occupants and the vehicle from being involved in a serious fire, I want to commend her for her excellent work in seeing this and notifying all parties.”
