Military Friendly Hiring

As one of America’s largest security companies, U.S. Security Associates (USA) is leveraging its hiring strength and corporate giving potential to combat veteran unemployment and other challenges facing those who have defended our borders, our freedom and our way of life. We want to be the top security company for hiring veterans and supporting veteran causes.

Recruiting America’s Brave: Careers for Veterans and Military Spouses

Recruiting America’s Brave is USA’s nationwide campaign to hire veterans for security services work. At USA, there are promising post-military careers for all veterans – retired, separated and reservists – along with military spouse opportunities.

In 2013, Time.com reported that “Today’s business leaders don’t understand the value that veterans bring to the table. This is one of the first generations of business leaders that largely didn’t serve in the military, which poses real cultural barriers to understanding military skills and experience. In a June 2012 report, the Center for a New American Security noted that one of the main barriers to hiring veterans, from the perspective of businesses, is that they struggle to understand how military skills translate to increasing the bottom line.”

There are no such barriers to veterans employment at U.S. Security Associates (USA). USA is a national security company founded by a formal naval officer. Our workforce demographics reflect the presence throughout the company of veterans who know firsthand that military leadership skills, training and discipline are some of the best security company assets. We already have thousands of veterans in our ranks, and we are actively Recruiting America’s Brave through partnerships with many groups helping veterans find jobs.

USA consistently ranks among the G.I. Jobs Top 100 Military Friendly Employers®. The company also ranks in the Top 50 Military Friendly Spouse Employers®. G.I. Jobs is a monthly publication that provides a wealth of resources for enlisted personnel transitioning to the civilian workforce. USA was selected out of a pool of approximately 5,000 eligible companies, based on a categorical evaluation of our long-term commitment to employing veterans. Read press release…

CivilianJobs.com has selected USA as one of the Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military®. CivilianJobs.com is a website dedicated to connecting America's military with civilian careers.

USA is a member of the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of major employers pledged to combat high unemployment among veterans, particularly veterans returning from Iran and Afghanistan. The 100,000 Jobs Mission was launched in March 2011 with the goal of collectively hiring 100,000 veterans by the year 2020. Hiring is on track to reach the 100,000 jobs mark well ahead of schedule. To join the 100,000 Jobs Mission, companies must commit to hire veterans, share best practices with other coalition members, and report results quarterly. USA has reported record veteran hiring numbers since the 100,000 Jobs Mission was formed. Read press release…

Careers for veterans at U.S. Security Associates are win/win opportunities for transitioning military personnel to deploy their leadership skills and training on the home front and for our clients to reap the benefits of that talent in their security services programs. To reach as many of these promising candidates as possible, USA recruiters are actively involved in a variety of military employment groups and programs.

We have been very successful in connecting with veterans and transitioning military personnel through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes program. Hiring Our Heroes offers everything from job posting and resume searching capabilities to hiring fairs, mentoring opportunities and much more.

USA also recruits new security officers and managers through the Hero2Hired (H2H) program developed by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and the Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces. Created to help connect service members to careers with military-friendly companies, H2H offers many forms of employment assistance, including job search tools, hiring events, a military-to-civilian skills translator, a career assessment survey, education and training resources, as well as a mobile app.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is another excellent resource for our efforts to expand the presence of service personnel within our security service forces. ESGR was established by the Department of Defense to foster relationships between civilian employers and members of the National Guard and Reserve. USA’s corporate headquarters team has demonstrated its commitment to ESGR with a signed Statement of Support, and USA recruiters in the company’s 160 offices are following that lead by signing Statements of Support through their local ESGR representatives. Maintaining a company-wide network of relationships within the ESGR organization better positions us not only to reach the people we want but also to provide a level of employer support that lends itself to employee longevity and satisfaction.

We are also able to reach some of America’s best trained talent through Warriors to Work, a Wounded Warrior Project® program. Warriors to Work facilitates the employment process by helping us learn how we can accommodate veteran needs and lay the groundwork for productive and rewarding veterans employment.

Exhibiting through RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expos gives USA further great exposure to highly qualified and motivated military veterans. RecruitMilitary is a leading military-to-civilian recruiting firm that operates hundreds of hiring fairs every year.

USA has been featured in Search & Employ® Magazine, a RecruitMilitary publication. To read the article, click here.

Military Friendly Philanthropy

Beyond providing careers for veterans and transitioning military personnel, USA is committed to giving back to the military community both through organizational contributions and through support of individual employee efforts throughout the organization.

Recently two USA employees had the privilege of participating as Guardians on Honor Flights. The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization that arranges free guided transport of veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Honor Flight provides veterans with bonding opportunities with others who have been in similar circumstances, life-long memories and a chance to be recognized and celebrated as heroes.
