Disaster Preparedness Essentials

Recent events, and the expectation that increases in extreme weather will continue to impact safety, underscore the importance of emergency preparedness on the enterprise and individual level.

Recent years have gone down in the record books, with weather and climate disasters exceeding the $1 billion mark in damages, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Record-breaking temperatures, devastating winds, drought conditions, and other unusual climate changes point to more dramatic weather ahead. Extreme weather-related events cost billions of dollars, damaging infrastructure and, most critically, causing physical harm and loss of life to victims.

A special report released by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states that climate change can be expected to continue to produce extreme weather events, which, in combination with social vulnerabilities and exposure to risks, can produce climate-related disasters that will impact societies across the globe.

WeatherWATCH®

The best defense against weather disasters is preparation and disaster response planning. U.S. Security Associates (USA) offers a service to our clients and prospects called WeatherWATCH®, that provides notification of inclement or severe weather so that customers can more effectively ensure the safety of their employees and facilities. USA employees are able to sign up for this service as well. Multiple zip codes can be monitored per email address. To enroll in this service, simply send your email and zip code to info@ussecurityassociates.com.
