ATLANTA – March 19, 2013 – U.S. Security Associates (USA) is rolling out a new Security Officer Short Segment training series that serves up continuing education for security professionals in convenient 20-minute installments. There are 20 titles currently available in the series, ranging from security industry hot topics like Active Shooter Response and Workplace Violence to fundamental concepts like Conflict Management and Customer Service. Assigned courses are accessible around-the-clock from any internet-connected computer through the company’s Learning Management Web.
Short segment training meets an urgent need in today’s security industry, where shrinking margins, security program cuts, and the repercussions of public acts of violence are increasing pressure on security services providers to do more with less. USA’s short segment training is proof that sometimes, less really can be more. High-impact training with a minimal time commitment has the potential to reach more officers, more often. The short segment series packs vital information and attention-grabbing graphics into concise, 20-minute training modules that strike a good balance between due diligence and security program cost control.
As one of the nation’s largest security companies, USA is widely recognized for creative training solutions that enable the company to provide trained security officers and emergency responders for commercial and government contracts, even under extraordinary conditions. When a security company walked off the job in a major public school district, USA started up operations within one week at 76 locations with 142 trained, licensed officers. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the company deployed 750 trained security officers to keep an eye on emergency generators and provide security around-the-clock throughout the storm-impacted region. On Black Friday, USA was called upon to provide 99 trained and uniformed officers for a single client, to prevent theft and maintain order on the biggest retail shopping day of the year.
USA’s commitment to effective, ongoing training is apparent not only in emergencies but also every day at sites company-wide. For instance, at one of America’s largest oil refineries, the USA team recently celebrated 10 years with no recordable or lost-time injuries, thanks to robust safety training.
CEO Chuck Schneider attributes credit for such achievements to the company’s consistent emphasis on training. He says, “Enhancing our existing programs with the flexibility and versatility of short segment training serves to not only optimize our security posture and better protect lives and property, but also to protect our investment in employee recruitment, affirmative action programs, background investigations and basic training. We are striving to build a labor force of career-oriented, integrity-driven security professionals. Providing the tools and opportunities to build knowledge and skill sets is essential to retaining those who have a strong work ethic and drive to succeed. Our training and development department is committed to building the best security company training library, with unparalleled resources for career advancement.”
