Like many companies operating in the current global economy, our customer was faced with the challenge of reducing operating costs, while maintaining the security posture of its facilities. It was also important to the customer to ensure any changes made to the security program caused minimal inconvenience to the customer's employees.
While the goal of many security companies is to simply sell and maintain "man-hours", U.S. Security Associates is an enterprise risk management company that offers full-service security solutions. We work in partnership with our customers to develop comprehensive security strategy that considers the enterprise threat landscape in relation to available assets and budget. An integration of technology with manpower can lead to fewer man-hours, yet enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the security program.
U.S. Security Associates worked with our customer to implement an enterprise security strategy that optimized the resources and assets available. By optimizing security technology, we were able to reduce manpower and add value to the program.
The new security plan for our customer involved a thorough review of the current operating strategy, re-engineering of security post points and re-prioritizing access gates. We then augmented the security staff with technology to enable more efficient processes. We relocated four access gates to the perimeter of the facility, closed two existing gates and reduced operations/staffing at a third. We then added CCTV and card readers at the gates to increase traffic flow. By enhancing security processes at the gates, we were able to eliminate six employee access turnstiles.
By reducing 365 weekly man-hours, we were able to provide customer savings of $370,000. Eliminating the annual operational and maintenance costs of the six turnstiles resulted in an additional savings of $83,000, for a total savings of $453,000.
