Like many companies operating in the current global economy, our customer was faced with the challenge of reducing costs to meet budget goals, while maintaining the security posture and customer service of the distribution facilities.

When our customer asked us to determine ways to reduce cost in the security program with minimal inconvenience to the employees or disruption to the security program, our strategy began with evaluation of the security needs at the account. Through close observation of truck traffic at an inbound/outbound security post, we hoped to determine opportunities to modify staffing based on traffic flow. We studied the traffic levels during each hour of the day for seven days. The resulting analysis revealed an opportunity to reduce coverage during off-peak hours without compromising security.
We were able to reduce the hours billed by 9% - 56 weekly hours – for annualized savings to the customer of $47,000. This solution allowed the customer to meet budget requirements without any negative impact to security at the facility or traffic control.
