Firearms Permit

Andrews International Training Center, in accordance with the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), offers 14 hours of classroom instruction covering the moral and legal aspects of firearms use, firearms nomenclature, weapons handling and shooting fundamentals, range time and emergency procedures.

Range time instruction is given to the applicant for practice in the safe handling and firing of a weapon. The BSIS Exposed Firearms Permit is good for 2 years from the date of valid issuance, with mandatory re-qualification each 6 months (no sooner than 4 months apart) to keep your firearms permit valid. The permit may be renewed after the 4th requalification and after a 2-hour refresher course and the passing of a written test.

BSIS Firearm Permit Requirements:
  • Complete a 14-hour course (10 hours classroom, 4 hours range) in the carrying and use of firearms given by a firearms training instructor certified by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Pass the written and range live fire exams given at the end of the course.
  • Submit the application with appropriate fees (B.S.I.S. Live Scan / DOJ / FBI).
  • Be a United States citizen or have permanent legal alien status.
  • Undergo a criminal history review.
$234.50 + ammo for one caliber
Price includes the following:
  • $100 for firearms class
  • $18 for range time
  • $1.50 for target
  • $8 processing fee
  • Live scan fee and background check:
    • $32 for DOJ
    • $38 for DOJ firearms fee
    • $17 for FBI fee
    • $20 for rolling fee
Additional costs:
$15 per caliber + ammo for any additional firearm on same day as initial qualification

$80 state fee must be paid separate by the applicant upon submission of application
